Little Free Library Fairies

I've been doing some serious house cleaning and de-cluttering this week. We had been holding on to some items for a future garage sale, but honestly, I just didn't have the desire to go through all that work. So instead, I took a LOT of boxes out of storage and closets and donated them. Then, I went through books and gathered everything that needed to go to new homes.

I know what you're thinking. Didn't I just do this last year before our big move? Well, yes and no. I think I held on to too many things. In an effort to "travel lighter" and embrace a simpler philosophy, I'm purging once again.

Take, for example, the books. If you are a book lover, you know how easy it is to accumulate a home library. But how often will we re-read a book we've already read once? Sam had aged out of a lot of books, too. It was time. We gathered over 150 books this week to bless on to new readers.

Before taking our haul to the library to donate to their monthly Friends sale, we decided to drive around our town of Batavia and fill the little free libraries with children's books.

Little Free Libraries are a wonderful addition to communities and towns, especially if you live in an area with sidewalks where people are often walking and biking and skate boarding. These two little libraries are also close to neighborhood elementary schools, making them a great spot for eager readers.

We felt like book fairies today. And let me tell you, four boxes of books were heavy! I'm so glad we got the chance to pass them on.

Do you have free little libraries in your area? You can learn more about them (and find locations) here:

Blessings, cafe friends!
