Life Outdoors

Jemma loves nice weather days when she can go outdoors and sit on the deck, soaking up the sun.

This time of year, it seems like she wants to go outside a hundred times a day.

I like to spend as much time as I can outdoors, too. Sometimes I bring my laptop outside and do some writing at the table, sipping a coffee while listening to the birds and watching them fly to the feeders.

I got the bird-inspired banner and door mat from My Evergreen this season. So cheerful! We also got new outdoor rugs for the deck this year. The old rug had lasted ten years, but it had seen better days.

I started buying some annuals this week. Mid-May seems to be the time when I can snag the geranium planters at Walmart for a good price. I purchased pink geraniums for the deck, the front porch walkway, and flanking the garage.

I've decided to plant a lot of pink and yellow this season. In years past, I veer to red and blue and purple. My new door mats and garden flags had me thinking of this new color combination. I'm off to the local grocery store this morning. They have a special each spring where they offer $10 flats for a special sale weekend. I'm hoping I can find some deer-resistant wax begonias for the garden, and maybe some pretty not-so-deer resistant petunias and impatiens for the deck.

Speaking of the deck, Jemma wants to go outside again. Time to grab a coffee and join her!

  1. I have been negligent in reading a few of my favorite writer's blogs lately as in months. This afternoon I enjoyed at least all of 2025's ramblings and recipes that you've shared. Thanks for keeping your blog going. Vikki H
