Capture: The Solution For Muddy Paws Season

Today's clean carpet is brought to you by Capture Carpet Cleaner!

I don't know if I've ever mentioned this product here at the cafe, but it's the BOMB.

Here's how it works.

First, you moisten the area to be cleaned with the spray bottle of soil release pre-mist. Then, you open the container of powdered cleaner. It has a little basket inside that you use to scoop out the powder and shake it over the moistened area.

After you have done that, you use the scrub brush to gently scrub the powder into the carpet, in both directions.

Let it dry...I usually wait 30 minutes to an hour. Then, simply vacuum the carpet. You will suck up all the powder, along with all of the dirt it has grabbed on to in the process. And voila! Clean carpet!

I find this product to be much easier to use than your standard water and solution carpet cleaners, and it is just as effective, if not better. You can only find it at home improvement stores like Lowe's and Home Depot.

Another bonus: it does not have the strong, obnoxious smell of most carpet cleaners on the market. This one just smells clean, maybe more like baby powder.

Spring is here, and with it all the usual muddy paws and footprints. This staircase to the basement gets a fair amount of traffic, and the light carpet really shows the dirt. I'm glad to get this job done before our weekend open house.

And speaking of jobs, we finished the last of the big painting jobs last weekend! woo hoo!  The back wall and stair well were the final sections, and we painted them in Benjamin Moore Manchester Tan, carrying over the color from the foyer and hallway.

Sorry, I took the photo before my husband had finished painting the trim white, so the painter's tape is still there. Trust me, it looks fabulous now.

This is the view to the laundry room and door leading to the garage. The little peek of yellow, with the blue and white and tan...it makes me so happy!

I cannot believe how much painting we accomplished in such a short amount of time. Since January, we have painted the guest room, the office, the foyer, the hallway, the great room, the kitchen, the laundry room, the pantry, and the stair well. Not to mention all the ceilings and trim, too. It's a good thing this winter was so long. It was a good time to stay indoors and get projects done. And now, I have the cottage color palette that I always envisioned for this house.

Thanks for visiting the cafe today!
