Reformation Day

Happy Reformation Day!

October 31, 1517 is the day when the great reformer, Martin Luther, nailed his 95 talking points, or theses, to the door of Wittenberg church and began a tsunami that changed our thoughts on God's grace, the importance of God's Word in the Bible, the printing of great literature, the role of vocation and occupation in our daily lives, the role of government and what it means to be a good citizen.

What did Luther say about this turn of events?

"I did nothing. The Word did everything."

Don't you love that about the Word?

Isaiah 55:10 - 11 says this:

"For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven and do not return there but water the earth, making it bring forth and sprout, giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater, so shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it."

The Word does everything. God speaks creation into existence. The Word of the LORD endures forever!

All Saint's Day, or All Hallow's Eve.

It's a pretty big day in history. A lot bigger than a free candy day.

I made these cookies (what a labor of love! It took hours!) for church, and ordered the cake and added Luther's Rose to the center. They were a big hit this past Sunday!

Tomorrow, November 1st, is All Saint's Day.

It is also the beginning of my Blogaversary! I have some big blog announcements tomorrow that will include a challenge and a giveaway, so stop back!

Blessings, cafe friends!
