Good Soil

The cottage garden near the sidewalk needed some attention. There were a lot of bare spots where I had tried to grow something that just didn't thrive. I've been thinking that the soil is much different in this area because of the two pine trees that used to grow there.

I decided to rake out the old mulch and add four 50 pound bags of garden soil.

It was a big job! I will probably add some new mulch soon. I am hoping this will help any new and existing plants in this area.

I planted some mums for fall color. I also found some bargain perennials at the garden center...yarrow and coreopsis.

It's cleaned up and looking a little better now. Soon, I will add some pumpkins just for fun.

Speaking of fun, here's Jemma, waiting for exciting things to happen on the sidewalk.

Blessings, cafe friends!

  1. Maryrose, you do so many things--cook, craft, decorate, garden, etc. I admire your talents and energy. Since this shutdown, I've gotten more and more sluggish. Ugh!
