Hello, friends! How was your holiday weekend? We had a really nice time with our boys...great food, lots of board games. It was a nice, relaxing weekend. Sure, two family members had to work on Black Friday, but things were much less crowded and chaotic this year.
We managed to get the outside of the house decorated, and we put the greenery and the Christmas tree up yesterday. Not decorated yet, but I do love the twinkle the tree brings to the dark nights.
I have been diligently reading my Bible, with the hope that I can finish by January 1st. I started with the New Testament back in September, then began the Old Testament. I am now in 1 Chronicles. Only 550 pages to go! 😀
Every time you read through the Bible, you learn something new. And while it is the story of God's people and His plan for our redemption, you quickly realize that it is your story, too.
Last night, I had one of those "Wow, why didn't I see this before?" moments was I was reading.
It dawned on me that there are a LOT of trees in the Bible. Very specific trees! And trees that talk, and trees that shout for joy. It begins in Genesis with the Tree of Life and the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. And the trees just continue. Abraham plants a tree. Jacob sleeps under a tree. Deborah sits under a tree. Jesus is the cursed man hanging on a tree.
Oak, balsam, cedar, broom, tamarisk, olive, almond, cypress, pomegranate, palm, fig.
Forests of trees.
So this morning, I did a little digging and found a really great article about trees in the Bible by Matthew Sleeth of Blessed Earth. (I am a fan of his wife, Nancy Sleeth, who wrote the book Almost Amish) The article was originally published in Christianity Today last year. You can read it here:

He has written a book called Reforesting Faith. I love that title!
I made this card at Stamp Camp using a variety of Distress Oxide inks on watercolor paper. This card is a bit larger...5 by 7. I needed more room for more trees!

Do you have your Christmas tree up yet? We are still trying to get the trees at the front of our subdivision lit. I might need to recruit a boy to help with that!
Blessings on your Monday, café friends!
