An Ice Cream Prize

I needed an ice cream card for a gift card giveaway yesterday.

I pulled out PTI's Sweet As Can Be to make this card.

{Today's Brew: Sweet As Can Be (PTI), sentiment and sweet die (Concord and 9th), Simple Stories Summer Farmhouse papers, twine, CP inks}

And here's the prize inside! A gift card to one of our local ice cream stands!

As the chairperson of my church's Fellowship committee, I try to come up with fun events that will bring the congregation members together, while also including the community where we live. During the pandemic, this was especially difficult. But now that we are doing better here (Praise the Lord!), people are hungering for that in-person connection.

COVID was pretty rough on the restaurant industry, and our little town was no exception. So this summer, I have organized monthly "Dine Outs" where our congregation can drop in on a designated night at a designated location to support one of our local eateries. I encourage everyone to wear a Thrivent t-shirt so that they know we are a group that is there to show our love and support.

And if you wear a t-shirt? You get to enter into a drawing for a fabulous prize...like this gift card! It's not a trip to Disney, but it does support the community.

We've had great turnouts for this event, and everyone seems to enjoy themselves.

Last night, we ate at Saline's Smokehouse 52. Look at those runner's legs!

And look at those beautiful white teeth! I am so glad we paid the big $ to the orthodontist! lol! Sam is growing his hair out this summer....thus the runner's hair bands. 😀

This dessert was so special! Fudge pretzel brownie with chocolate and caramel sauce.

I hope and pray that we can all stay healthy so that we can continue to meet together. With so many activities happening in the future, like the beginning of the school year and the holiday season, it is vitally important that we stay vigilant regarding all aspects of our health, not just for ourselves but for our neighbor as well.

Blessings, café friends!

  1. What a great idea! We're all tired of being so isolated. This is good for the restaurants, as well as the patrons.

  2. It sounds like you're a fabulous party person and connector! Your dessert reminds me of the blondies I made last weekend with pretzels added instead of nuts and caramel sauce drizzled on top!
