Inspired by a Weed

I pointed to the side of the house and told my husband "Do you see that vine?"

"You mean the clematis?" he asked.

"Yeah, that's not actually just the clematis," I had to tell him. "That's Virginia Creeper. It started growing there on its own."

"We will have to cut that down," he immediately said.

"Nah. Let's leave it and see what happens," I said.

I've seen Virginia Creeper in lots of settings...parks, woods, even left to grow in botanical gardens. I had a pretty good idea that it may just give some stunning color in autumn, and I was right.

Sometimes, I will let a plant grow just to see what happens...like this Creeping Jenny below that's taking over. Okay, that will have to be tamed for sure!

I made a few Thank You cards that were inspired by the Virginia Creeper.

The background framing stencil is from PTI's Make It Market Herb Garden set. I've had these stencils sitting at my table for over a month as a reminder to use them!

Catherine Pooler has been doing a lot of glittery sparkly splattering with a set of paints for Kuretake. I remembered that I have these beautiful metallics from Prima, and they did the trick!
