First Snow

We had our first snow yesterday! In some parts of the country, I'm sure that November 14 sounds pretty early to see the white stuff, but since we've moved home to Michigan, I know we have had it even earlier than this.

It's always funny to see snow when there are still leaves on the trees. One of our neighbors built a snowman with a pumpkin head! Funny! The seasons do tend to overlap at this point.

I have been prepping for our church's Advent Café. Lots to do! I know that it will all get done with the Lord's help, but I am feeling overwhelmed. I have a lot (I mean, a LOT) of family stuff happening right now that is weighing heavy on my heart. So each day, I make a list, and I do what I can for just those 24 hours.

I chose the theme "Hope" for this year's event. After the twelve months (and more) that many of us have had, I feel that hope is what we all desperately want this Christmas.

I made this top-fold easel style card to use as part of the tablescape. On the back of the card, I will put some questions that the ladies can use as discussion prompts.

{Today's Brew: Words of Faith Christmas stamp (Taylored Expressions), Bethlehem die (TE), Crimped frame die (The Greetery), star punch (vintage SU!), Stickles, PTI card stock}

I think this design will also make a fast Christmas card!

I visited my sister Tina and her sweet husband, Doug this weekend (and their extra sweet yellow lab, Moses!). They have this big, beautiful framed piece hanging in their home all year long. This verse from "O Holy Night" was the inspiration for the theme.

The world is indeed weary, and I am weary, too. But we hold on to the hope that is in Jesus!

Blessings, café friends!

  1. Your blog post was so meaningful to me tonight! First, I LOVE the card and that sentiment stamp. Second, O Holy Night is my favorite Christmas carol so I adore your sister's framed piece. Third, your last line resonated with me. Tonight, I felt weary of the world and weary for my young adult daughters trying to navigate it. I'm so thankful Jesus is their hope, otherwise it would be a truly rougher road.
