Hello, café friends!
One of the things I'm trying to do this year is to be intentional about using what I've got in my craft stash, and not automatically filling up a shopping cart in a "buy now!" frenzy. With gas prices soaring, inflation causing prices at the grocery store to climb, and college tuition looming, I'm trying to practice a little restraint. A little. I'm not always successful, mind you!
Case in point: this week, Concord and 9th had a spring release that was really darling. It was filled with cute floral and garden images, and I am a sucker for those things. Garden boots! Watering cans! Wooden planter boxes! Even a stitched floral cover plate. Swoon worthy!
The longer I looked at those sweet images, the more I started to think "Don't you already own something similar? Can't you do this with what you've got?"
Yes! Yes, I do. And yes I can!
A rain boot from Taylored Expressions! A watering can from Papertrey Ink! Wood elements from Concord and 9th. And yes, even a floral stitched cover plate.
I paired all of the elements with flowers from PTI's Petite Pots. Some of them I cut out of colored cardstock, and some of them I colored using ink blending.
The new Concord and 9th release had two elements to give the boot a different color at the sole. No worries! I just cut the boot out in a different color, trimmed off the bottom portion and adhered it with glue to the boot!
I really loved the crate-type window box in the new C and 9th set. WPlus9 has something very similar in one of their spring sets that I've loved for ages, but it always seems to be sold out. Petals and Palettes to the rescue! I used these little wooden slat elements (two of them) and popped them up with foam dimensionals onto a smaller piece of kraft card stock. Easy!
A little button twine ribbon, and done!
These cards were so fun to make! Bright and cheery for spring!
I'm pretty proud of myself for thinking outside of the box.
Challenge accepted, and mission accomplished!
Thinking outside the box is your superpower! 🦸♀️
