Winter Florals

I've been working on a craft project for church this week: Tablescape centerpieces for our Family Life Center that will carry us through the winter months. I wanted something sparkly and wintry and not too Christmas-y so that I could get a few months' use out of them.

For starters, I went into church's storage to see what we had. I found a storage box with these cute birch-wrapped pots, and another storage box filled with some holiday greens and floral foam.

Then, I went to the Dollar Store, Joann Fabrics, and Dollar General to buy some floral picks and wired ribbon.

I used some wire cutters to trim according to my needs.

I think the key to arranging is that you want some nice textures and colors and contrast. I used a mix of pine, holly, and boxwood for the greenery. Then, I added some tall elements, some wispy elements, some hard elements, some sparkly elements. Finally, the wired snowflake ribbon finished it off and filled any holes.

I got such great deals! I think I only had to spend about $50. For twelve centerpieces, that comes out to about $4 a piece. That's a bargain!

My kitchen and dining area are now covered in glitter. 'Tis the season!

I also found some great holiday paper plates and napkins at my local Dollar stores for upcoming events. I think I'm ready for our winter fellowship events now.

Blessings on your weekend, café friends!

  1. Beautiful centerpieces! You did a great job of scavenging for items the church already had and then finding some inexpensive add-ons. What an asset you are to your church!
