Christmas Ornaments

In the past, over my 20 plus years of paper crafting, I have not been a person that buys a lot of Christmas/Holiday stamp sets. They always seemed so limiting. You can only use them for about one month a year, and it felt like a silly use of my craft dollars.

And that was true, especially when stamp sets and dies were costing $25 and up.

But in the past few years, if I find a set of stamps and/or dies on a buy/sell/used forum or great clearance, I've been giving myself permission to get them.

I've been adding some really great elements to my craft collection this year...candy canes, pines and greenery, sentiments, and more. And when the stamps and dies range in price from $5-$7, it's easy to justify that purchase.

Today's cards are an example of my holiday bargain shopping. I got these Catherine Pooler ornament dies on a super clearance sale at Scrapbook.com over the summer, and I'm so glad I did. These ornaments make a big statement on a card front!

I used this pine embossing folder from SU as the base, using Pinefeather card stock from PTI and spritzing it with some shimmer mist.

Next, I die cut a bunch of the elements with various shades of glittery shimmery card stock from Michael's.

Next, I added a sentiment (SU Christmas Pines) with some silver heat embossing.

The panel is on one of my favorite colors for winter cards...Soft Stone from Papertrey Ink.

I'm making about two dozen cards with this design. Super fun and easy...just a few steps and some gluing.

I can't believe I am still making cards! I need to get some addressed and in the mail today!

How is your holiday card making? Doing any other crafting?

I have some stitching projects to share this week...a few things I was working on during our road trips.

Blessings, café friends!

  1. You make so many pretty Christmas cards! How many do you usually send each Christmas? You mention making "dozens" of a particular design and so I'm assuming you mail a lot. I had Christmas cards left from last year plus some I made in November, so I had everything in the mail by December 2 this year. I'm teaching 2 Christmas cardmaking classes at my library tomorrow plus another one in my home next week, so I'll have a jump start on next year's cards! On my desk now is a stack of packaging I made for stocking stuffers (gift card holders, nail file holders, lip balm boxes, etc.) Your stitching projects are always adorable. Can't wait to see them!

    1. I have "groups" of Christmas cards I make and send. The friends/family group, the online stamping forum friends group, the church ladies stamp camp group, the church Fellowship committee group. All those groups add up!
