How to Alter a Pattern

Happy New Year, café friends!

We took a one-day road trip yesterday to see our in-laws. Whenever Ed is in the driver's seat, I take that opportunity to catch up on some stitching projects.

I found this Pine Mountain Pillow Wrap kit in my stash and decided it was the perfect winter project. But I wasn't entirely happy with the word.

January seemed kind of uninspiring.

Not that there's anything wrong with the first month of the year. But I don't have patterns for any of the other months, and that seemed limiting. So instead, I decided to change the wording.

Using a pencil, I marked out on the pattern the word "SNOW". This gave me an idea of where I could place it in relation to the other stitched images.

As I was stitching the word, I decided the "O" would be adorable with a snowflake button in its place. I did some back stitching to add "Let it", and voila. A fun winter message!

I need to either sew up a little pillow insert, or order one. There's only one problem. Jemma thinks that every decorative pillow is a chew toy. Not sure where I can put this that she won't want to grab it! Up high? Maybe this will be a gift for someone instead.

Our snow is now gone, replaced with rain and gray skies. I think I prefer the snow.

Blessings on your 2023, café friends!

  1. This is so cute! I was in Barnes & Noble last week and saw a stitching magazine filled with patterns for quotes. It made me want to start stitching! I love seeing your projects. They are always so cute.
