CSA: A New Kind of Fresh This Summer

I made a big decision about the garden this season. I am not planting vegetables. Last year's crop was really sad. The cukes barely produced enough to use, the zucchini was disappointing, the peppers were not as plentiful, and the tomatoes didn't start ripening until the fall.

Too much work for little reward.

This year, I decided to join a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) and subscribe to a local farm. The family that owns the farm are members of our church, too. Every week, fresh seasonal produce will get delivered to our door. How easy is that? I can either pick what I'd like to order, or I can opt for Farmer's Choice and let them deliver what is in that week.

There is also the option to visit the Farmers Market on Saturdays. It's a good excuse to get up early and get a Mexican Latte from the café across the street!

Our subscription is set to start at the end of the month. I am hoping for Michigan asparagus and mushrooms, and maybe some early strawberries, too!

  2. We tried a CSA program before our move and it was amazing the variety and freshness. Now we live within a mile of a weekly Sunday market so we wander over there. Vikki H
