Hooray! At long last, the new windows for the cottage are finally here!
Here's a "before" photo of the old crank out windows.
And now, we have triple paned, double hung windows! The old outside trim was a taupe color, and the new trim matches the siding much better.
The team arrived at 8AM and got to work removing all the old windows and propping the new ones in place.
Next, they had to add all the outside trim and do all the inside caulking.
Oh, and install a much needed new patio sliding glass door!
As you can imagine, this door gets used a lot! It's nice to have one that is so safe and secure.
And to have the ease of tilt in windows for cleaning...awesome!
So many of our windows were inoperable. You might be able to crank them out, but you couldn't crank them back in to close. Even Jemma could pop them open on her own.
And don't get me started on how they let the cold air in during the winter. And how the outside noise from the street easily filtered through.
Now? Quiet. So quiet!
We opted for the grids in the front window, but no grids in the others. I really love how this front window adds to the cottage feel of the house now.
Jemma had a full day of supervising the crew! They were all wrapped up and done by 3:30 that afternoon. I spent the rest of the day washing and ironing curtains and putting the house back together.
And now, we have lovely, insulated windows that we will enjoy for many seasons to come.
Grateful. So grateful!
