I took Jemma for a walk the other night, and when I came home I found this sign in my yard.
Green Thumb Award Nominee!
My neighbors down the street told me that they'd nominated me. Isn't that sweet?
For the most part, the garden is looking lovely this year. Lots of rain and sunshine to help all things grow.
Even the woods, which had looked so bad after the excavation crew came in, is now looking better.
Here's a peek at the front yard.
The butterfly garden is still attracting all kinds of visitors.
And the border garden is so lush, with coleus, wax begonias, and hydrangea.
I need to find some spots to sneak in a few fall mums and pumpkins.
But here's the funny part! I am currently trying an experiment in the front yard. We had a redbud tree that decided to grow right by our front door. Not an ideal location. But I do love redbud trees, and this one was growing to a good height.
"Let's try to transplant it and see what happens!" I told my husband.
So we dug it out one hot day (bad idea) and moved it here.
And now it looks as if it's screaming "Help me! You are killing me!"
So much for the Green Thumb! 😄
I'm still holding out hope that is is just in transplant shock and will bounce back. In the end, it only cost us $8 to buy a stake for support.
We also had nearly a dozen little redbuds that decided to grow in my herb garden. We dug those up and planted them along the edge of the woods. It would be lovely if they would grow there. Can you imagine all those pink blossoms in the spring?
I told my husband "Maybe I can go out with some spray paint and paint those leaves to make it look alive!" LOL
I suppose you can't get a green thumb unless you are willing to get your hands dirty, right?
Friday Blessings, café friends!

Congratulations! Your garden always looks so lovely in the photos - it must look gorgeous in person! What a gift to have a green thumb and then to be honored for it, too.....wow!
