Operation Patterned Paper: Pine Cones and Prep Work

Happy Friday the 13th!

I'm still plugging away at my Christmas Cards. I used a good amount of Simple Stories Simply Vintage Christmas papers for the last round.

This time, I am using Simple Stories Winter Farmhouse papers.

I did a little prep work before I got started. Looking at the papers, I saw that there were a lot of elements like little houses, pine cones, greens and flowers. So I decided to find die cuts that would match these elements.

I cut out snow flakes and little houses (Hello Bluebird), Pinecones and greens and berry branches (Stampin' Up), and more flowers and greens (Concord and 9th). I liked this big sentiment from Concord and 9th, and I thought it matched the natural theme. Enamel dots are also from Simple Stories.

One thing I did a little differently this time was to add more solid card stock to frame and ground the papers. I like the look. It's more substantial, I guess.

Doing the prep work really helped. I was able to make a dozen cards with three different layouts.

I found another great way to use up some holiday papers: envelope liners! I plan on having matching envelopes for these Christmas cards. The recipients will think I'm being extra fancy, when in truth, I'm just trying to use up my stash! 😂

It's very autumnal today...cool, breezy, overcast. It will be a good day for Italian Meatball Soup and Apple Cobbler for dinner.

Have a great weekend, café friends!
