Score! A Winter Find

I had to visit my local resale shop yesterday, as I am on the hunt for a frame for my wool applique piece.

I didn't find a frame, but I did find these beauties!

I recognized this china pattern right away.

Made in England, Johnson Bros the Friendly Village. This series is called The Schoolhouse. I loved the winter scene, and there was a perfect set of eight for...$4 a plate?! Sold!

These plates can sell anywhere from $10-$60 a piece. I knew I'd scored a great deal. I love my Spode turkey plates for the holidays, but I only have six. And now that I have ladies visiting for the holidays, I could use a few more for special occasions. I like that this is a winter scene that I can leave up for the season.

It also complements my paprika and sage Longaberger pottery pieces nicely.

Did I really really need them? No. But sometimes, it's nice to splurge. Still looking for that picture frame. Who knows what else I will find along the way!

  1. This is what makes thrifting so fun! My girls and their friends loved shopping for their clothes at thrift stores in high school and still enjoy going there. Congratulations on your finds! The scenes are beautiful and I love the vintage look of them.

  2. Your dining hutch is so warm and inviting. I want to drive 30 minutes south to a vintage vendor mall that has many items like these plates. Vikki H
