I played my dulcimer at a coffee house this week. How appropriate is that? A week of coffee-inspired cards, followed up with a coffee house concert!
If you had told me a year ago that I'd be playing a dulcimer in public, I would have laughed at you. Isn't it fun to see the twists and turns that life brings?
I never could have come this far without the lessons from my instructor, Sharon. She's been invaluable on this journey. And the new friends and experiences along the way have been such a blessing this year.
Sharon likes to give her students plenty of opportunities to gain confidence and play out in public. It really helps!
Agricole in Chelsea is a really fun place. Part café, part market.
And because I was a performer that day, they gave me a complimentary pumpkin spice latte. It was delicious!
Chelsea is home to the Jiffy company. You know that cornbread mix that comes in small boxes? It's made here in Chelsea! (That's the factory in the background.)
Chelsea is a sweet town. I get to visit a couple of times a month for dulcimer jams and lessons. And when I have time, I love to explore there.
Reflecting on the past several years, I can see how our return to Michigan has been so good for me. I started a new career. I reconnected in more meaningful ways with nearby family. I found new vocations and connections through a new church family. And now, I have a new musical hobby to pursue.
November is a month of gratitude and thankfulness. I have a lot to be thankful for!
Congratulations!
