A Few Easter Cards

I managed to get some Easter cards mailed out to family and friends this year. I really wanted to use the Stampin' Up Daffodil dies that I'd bought a while back. One thing I noticed...the dies were pretty big, and long. So I made the decision to use them on A7 sized cards.

Making 5 by 7 cards does use a little more cardstock, but it also gives a bigger "canvas" to create upon. And a larger card doesn't require any more postage than an A2 card, so why not? Easy, no layer card with a stenciled oval focal point background. I'm so glad that I finally gave these dies a try.

Here's another Easter card I made for a lot of my church friends.

I found a stack of these embossed cross panels (Taylored Expressions) in my stash. I think they were leftover from a VBS project last summer. I decided to pair them with wreathy sprigs and The Greetery's Botanicuts Lilies. The Easter banner from Mama Elephant worked well to tie it all together.

It's fun to combine products from different companies and get creative.

Here's another creative combination. My front entryway pots were looking bare. I almost bought potted flowering bulbs from the grocery store, but at $10 a pot, it seemed silly. I went home and looked in my garden to see what I could move around. I found some hyacinths that were trying to grow, but getting covered by bushes that had grown over them. I dug them out and put them in the pots, then backed them with some fake forsythia stems from my stash (the Dollar Tree!).  I waited, and sure enough, the hyacinths happily bloomed in the pots! The scent at the front entryway is lovely, too.

Fake flowers and real flowers...a perfect combination!
