East Coast Getaway Day Two: Lancaster, PA

I love Pennsylvania. The rolling hills and scenic vistas, the old stone houses and barns, the rich history. It's a beautiful state.

We visited Lancaster, an area that is populated with the Amish community. Amish farms, Amish quilt shops, and yes, Amish restaurants.

We took a ride on a steam train at the Strassburg Train Museum.

Our sons would have loved this museum! I think back to all those years of Thomas the Tank Engine and Brio trains. Wooden tracks used to zigzag all over our house. Good memories.

It was nice to get away for a few days of sightseeing. It's nice to be home, too!

  1. What a lovely trip you've had! Central PA is beautiful. A couple of my aunts and uncles live there and it was so fun visiting them while growing up. My more free-spirited aunt would load us in her car and FLY over the rolling hills, making our stomachs drop as if we were on a roller coaster. We loved it!
There is a train in Titusville (about 2 hours north of Pittsburgh) that showcases the rich oil history in that area and it's enjoyable.
Your description of the Museum of the Bible makes me want to revisit it; I went as a chaperone on a 7th/8th grade DC trip so I didn't get to linger and explore!
