Every November, my sisters and I torture each other with the following question:
"So NaNoWriMo...you gonna do it?"
NaNoWriMo. Otherwise known as National Novel Writing Month. Thirty short days to write a novel. We've always loved the idea. After all, who doesn't have a book floating around in their brain somewhere, just waiting to be written?
I had an idea for a book that came to me one night recently. I was lying in bed, unable to sleep, when this book just sort of wrote itself in my head. It isn't a novel. This one is more of a meditation or study. When I woke up the next day, I wrote pages and pages of the story idea down, with titles and chapters and outlines.
So last night, when I realized that it was the first of November and NaNoWriMo month, I thought "Why Not?"
Well, I have a lot of good answers to why not. For starters, November is a short month. Only thirty days! And on top of that, two words...Thanksgiving Dinner. Add to that a husband who travels sometimes five days a week during this busy retail season. Oh, and did I mention? I already have three articles to write.
Write a book, too? Sounds like a great idea!
I once had a professor who said "Writers who do not write are not writers. They are waiters."
The waiting is over. I will keep you posted on the progress.
Did you see this beautiful wallpaper on my laptop? I found it recently at the Garlands of Grace blog. You can find it here:
