Wet and Forget: A Review

It's that time of year...time to get projects done outdoors before the weather gets too cold. And one project on our list was to clean up the vinyl siding.

It's been a damp spring and summer, and it has caused our vinyl siding to really mildew. I looked in to a company that would power wash the house...the cost was about $350. And then I heard about a product called Wet and Forget. Simply add the concentrate with water to a household garden sprayer, spray on the affected spots, and leave it.

The product does not work instantly. Rather, it breaks down the enzymes through a chemical process over time.

Here are the Before photos:

And here are the photos just three days later:

You can see where the green has faded to a light brownish color. A big improvement.

Here are photos I took one week later. I should have waited until the dew had evaporated, but I think you can still see the progress.

As a precaution, I made sure to spray my garden after application, just to make sure I did not burn my plants. Everything looked fine, and no harm done.

I'm anxious to see if it removes the brownish cast completely. I'm hoping that in another week or two, it will disappear.

I'm sorry to report that it didn't do much to the eaves and gutters. They still look really spotty. That could be an age-related thing. It bugs me, though.

Cost of Wet and Forget was $30 at Ace Hardware. Do I think that power washing would have made an instant impact? Absolutely. Did I want to spend $350? Not really. I'm hoping this economical solution will do the job nicely.

Thanks for visiting the cafe today!
