The Cottage: Guest Bathroom Redo

Good morning, cafe friends! Today, I have photos to share with you of our latest project at the cottage: the guest bathroom!

This was the last room that needed to be painted on the main floor. And even though it is the guest bath room in the hallway, across from the guest room, it is the one that I typically use during the week. Our baths are on the smallish side, so I let my husband have use of the master bathroom. It makes life easier that way.

I chose the color Guilford Green from Benjamin Moore. It's the same color we used in the guest room, and I like to have a continuous color palette in the house.

For the finishes, I decided to go with brushed nickel, rather than the oil rubbed bronze we have used in other areas. This room already had a few brushed nickel elements, so I decided to continue with it.

I had looked for light fixtures online, and many ran around $75-$150 dollars and up. Then we went to Lowe's and found this Delta light fixture for $35. I liked it! And because we saved so much money on the light fixture, I thought we could splurge a little and buy the matching sink fixture as well (I think it was around $100) from the Delta Valdosta collection.

And as long as we were at it, we replaced the shower heads to match, too. We had installed the curved shower curtain rod last year. Those rods are awesome. It makes the smallish shower seem a little more spacious.

Are you wondering about the bees? Well, I'm a gardener and so I love bees. But the mascot of Saline schools also happens to be the hornet, so I think it works! I bought these sweet bee accessories from Ballard (still need to order the soap dispenser...silly me!). I found the bee print at Wayfair, and I loved the size and colors for this room.

So here's a Before photo of the guest bathroom from the original real estate listing:

The color was not terrible, but the paint job was. They had splashed it up on the ceiling, and the walls were in rough shape. And don't even get me started on that light fixture from The Jetson's era.

Aaah, that's better!

The shower curtain was ordered from Target (Threshold), and it matches all the colors on the main floor so well.  Oh, and we also swapped out the toilet seats. MUCH better. If you are going to do a refresh, you might as well do it from top to bottom.

I also did a little refresh in the guest room that I will show later this week.

Thanks for visiting the cafe today!

  1. You have such a gift for decorating and making things warm, cozy, and inviting (my favorite feelings)! I don't have the decorating or gardening gene so your blog has been a treasure of ideas and motivation for me. If I lived alone, my home would just be piles of books and papercrafting supplies with some dusty furniture thrown in lol!
