Guest Speaker

I was asked to be the guest speaker at our Saline Area Senior Center this morning. The writing group asked me if I would come and give a talk on freelance writing. How fun is that?

The center was closed to visitors during COVID, but recently opened again. Everyone was so happy to see each other! We sat on the lovely patio, under umbrellas and a pergola covered in wisteria.

I spoke about how I began my writing career over 25 years ago. And I also spoke about you, my sweet sweet blog readers, who have encouraged me with your comments over these dozen or so years of blogging! You are THE BEST!

Of course, I had to give them all something crafty. I made these bookmarks using a stamp and die set from My Favorite Things (I think this one is retired, but I do love it!). I included fifteen tips on freelance writing. I think we all had a good time, and I know I will go back to the group soon because they inspire me to be a better, more creative writer.

And you inspire me, too! Thanks for visiting the café today (and all those other days, too!)

  1. How fun for you and the residents! It must have been hard fir them to be isolated for so long. Kudos to you for doing this!
