Fun on the Fourth

Hello, café friends! How was your 4th? We had a good time this weekend. John came home so we could celebrate his birthday early. We got to visit my Mom, too, for a chili dogs and strawberry shortcake dinner. Tastes of summer!

And this is another taste of summer. Sam had a craving for Push Up's. I told him this was a treat from my childhood and always reminds me of summertime visits at my Grandpa's house in North Toledo. My sisters and I would buy these at the market down the street, and take them back to Grandpa's, where we would sit on his front porch and watch the big ships travel down the Maumee River. To this day, when I hear a baseball game on the radio, it takes me back to this very spot.

We played some board games and card games, too!

John taught us a new euchre tradition called "Closing the barn doors!" Hysterical!

We played a little corn hole, too.

We had to give poor Jemma a few tranquilizers to calm her down for evening fireworks. She's still looking a little loopy today. It does help her survive another Independence Day, though. Not her favorite time of year...fireworks and thunderstorms. No fun.

Did you take advantage of any holiday sales? I did! A few new crafty things will be heading this way soon.

Happy Holiday Monday!

  1. Push-ups....yum! That takes me back to childhood! Our dog doesn't like fireworks, either, and we have a neighbor that likes to randomly set off M-80s throughout the year. Because of the randomness of it, our poor little pup just has had to learn to deal with it. We're at the beach for the 4th and it was QUITE the fireworks show last night - almost 2 hours of people setting them off. It was so beautiful and fun!
