Criss Cross Christmas

It turns out that Sam didn't just bring laundry home with him from college. He also brought home influenza, which he shared with me right after Thanksgiving. Oh the joy! I'm starting to feel a bit better after a few days of naps and hot tea.

Too much to do this time of year! No time to be sick!

I wanted to make a card today, but with my fuzzy flu brain, I didn't want to think too hard. I "borrowed" this idea from the Stampin' Up holiday mini catalog. I thought the card was really sweet, and I was pretty sure I could make it with a few combined dies and stamp sets.

For starters, I used the Catherine Pooler cover plate die, Criss Cross Applesauce, and I blended the die cut and the card base with Deck the Halls ink.

I used the banner from CP's And Extras stamps and dies, paired it with a sentiment from Warm Wishes, and added a bunch of holiday greenery die cuts from Hello Bluebird.

This one was fun to make, but probably too fussy for making more than a few.

Here's a pro tip: If you are doing a lot of die cutting of extras like greenery and berries and pinecones, make some extras to have on hand. Cut them out in white, and you can always ink blend a color on top later. Keep them in the pocket where you store the dies, and you will have them handy when you need them. A big time saver!

Take your vitamins, wash your hands, and eat your oranges. 'Tis the season!

  1. Beautiful card, Mary Rose! It's so fun to case cards using what's in our stash. That's the part of stamping I enjoy the most actually. Sleep and tea really do work wonders for illnesses! I have found with my family that simply sleeping is the fastest way to getting better. I'm glad you are on the mend.
