We are back from our long weekend road trip to...our nation's capitol!
I had never been to Washington D.C. Can you believe it?
My husband has an uncle who lives just a short train-ride away in Maryland. We decided it was time form a visit.
We had wonderful weather for most of the trip. Trees and shrubs in bloom (though we did miss Cherry Blossoms).
We spent one day in DC, walking the mall and seeing all the monuments.
A lot to see. Eight miles of walking by the end of that day. I think even my blisters had blisters.
We spent another day touring Gettysburg, which was amazing. The bus tour made it a really immersive experience.
My husband's uncle was a great tour guide. He knew a lot of local history, too. He took us to this old depot to show us the spot where Lincoln would have come to town on the train to give the Gettysburg address.
I prayed at all of the monuments...prayers for our country, prayers for our leaders, prayers for the people.
One of my favorite parts of the trip was our drive through the countryside of Pennsylvania and Maryland. Such lovely architecture!
You never know what you might see!
We are back home now, where snow flurries are flying and the daffodils are asking themselves "Why did we wake up for this?"
Blessings on your week, café friends!
What a great trip! I got excited just reading your post and seeing the photos. My aunt and uncle live in central PA, just a half hour from Gettysburg, and I've always loved the buildings and topography of that area. It looks historical and colonial still.
ReplyDeleteYou know how I love my Pennsylvania, Nicole! So beautiful!
