A Watermelon-Themed Father's Day

One of my favorite aspects of serving in Fellowship was coming up with a theme for our events.

This month, I decided to go all in with a melon theme for Father's Day!

I made this sign by cutting out the melon layers (freestyle), adding some seeds, and drawing some stripes on the rind with a white signo gel pen.

Did I serve watermelon? Of course! I also made these food labels using a stamp from Catherine Pooler!

I served a lot of Dad-foods, like donut holes, bacon, egss.

Our pastor said he always picks cinnamon rolls and bacon for his special days, so I made sure to have cinnamon rolls, too!

I brought the theme home, too, by adding it to my chalkboard!

Nothing says summertime like watermelon!

Here's a tip I picked up from a clerk at Meijer. To pick a good watermelon, look for 3 things. It should have the brown shriveled "belly button" at one end, it should have a lighter yellow skin on one side, and when you whack it, it should give a nice hollow knock sound, indicating it's full of water and not dried out. Good to know! This one was delicious.

Hope your summer is sweet!
