Popcorn Balls!

When I was a girl, our next door neighbor, Mary (my namesake), used to make the most amazing popcorn balls every Halloween. It was the thing I looked forward to most about the holiday!

I was feeling nostalgic for those childhood days, so I did a little searching on Pinterest and found a recipe for popcorn balls.

This recipe made caramel balls, and I added some sprinkles from Walmart.

I shaped each ball and put them in a cupcake holder, then wrapped them in cling wrap and tied at the top with baker's twine.

Fun! There are lots of variations of this recipe, many of which can be made into Christmas balls with red and green sprinkles. Some recipes use a Karo syrup and Jello mixture instead of caramel-style syrup and sweetened condensed milk.

Mary passed away a year ago, but her oldest son still lives in the family home. I dropped some balls off at my Mom's, and then drove over and gave one to her son, too. I think he appreciated the sentiment.

And speaking of sentiment, look at this boo-tiful card I received last week as part of a card swap!

This shaker-style card is just too cute! Debbie Bonczek, you rock!

Happy Halloween, café friends!
