Some years, I am all about the glitz and sparkle of Christmas. I pull out every ornament and all the Nativities and all the china and crystal.
This year, I just wasn't feeling it.
I'm definitely in the holiday spirit, but in a more natural and relaxed way this year.
I decided to use only the ornaments that had a woodland feel to them. So out came the birds and birdhouses, the pinecones and the toadstools, the wooden ornaments and the simple candles.
I also added a few ornaments from the Dollar Tree, like that sweet owl and some of the buffalo plaid items.
I found these hoops there, and decided I could put those wooden beads to good use.
I took them off the hoop, and then threaded them through jute twine.
To make the threading easier, I taped the ends of six-foot lengths of twine. I strung about twelve beads on each section, spaced them out, and tied them off. Where two strands met on the tree, I added a little wired ribbon, and then cut off the taped ends.
A simple mix of old and new. I probably spent about $10 for the new ornaments and garland. The way I see it is this: if I don't have to put every ornament out, then I don't have to put them all away again in January!
Very pretty! M.L.
