Stealing Inspiration

Look at this! No papers!

I put Operation Patterned Paper on hold for this card yesterday. I had the idea floating around in my head and wanted to give it a try.

I was inspired by this card I saw at the Hallmark shop in town. I thought it was stunning. If I wasn't already a card maker, I would've bought this one on the spot.

I started with the ink blending. A lot of ink colors! Next, I stamped the sentiment, and then stamped and embossed the stars and stable. Finally, I spritzed it all with some gold shimmer spray. The stamps are from Concord and 9th (O Holy Night).

I added this sentiment and stamped these images inside.

This is definitely a unique color palette for a Christmas card, and totally outside my norm. But in the end, I'm happy with how it turned out.

I might make another version with the Magi, just like the inspiration card. Maybe I will make it into a slimline, too.

Still cranking out cards! How about you?

  1. Totally stunning! Truly a beautiful card! The background you created is perfect for the large sentiment stamp and its message. I did not make any Christmas cards this year other than some samples for a cardmaking event I held at my local library and I am not mailing any this year. Just not feeling it and I'm okay with that.
