Resisting the Ads and Feeds

My Year of Plenty has been off to a slow start. Every day, I have to train my brain to look at things in a new way. There are buying decisions. There are "make do" attempts. There are creative solutions.

For starters, my email inbox is MUCH lighter than it was back in December, thanks to all of the unsubscribing I did. That has helped...a lot!

I haven't been perfect or 100% successful. I still have a hard time resisting a great sale. But I am making progress.

For example, I saw a really cute quilted protector for sofas on Instagram. My first thought? "I need that!"

My second thought? "Will my used IKEA Ektorp couch really be improved by that?"

My third thought? "Don't I already have something like that?"

Yes. Yes I do! I remembered this sweet lap quilt that I found in my Mother-in-laws storage unit a few years back. I draped it over the couch, tucked it in place, and waited.

Jemma gave it the ultimate test. And she approves! Two paws up!

I do think I need to start considering an orthopedic bed for Jemma. She turned eight last month, and I can see her starting to slow down. But for now, she likes her cozy old used IKEA couch.

Good enough for me!
