Easter Monday

Happy Easter, café friends!

I hope your holy day was spent enjoying family and friends, good food and good times.

Our day was a twenty-four hour whirlwind of activity that took the better portion of a week to prepare for, which left me with the thought "Not doin' that again!"

It was fine. Everything was fine. But between the shopping and the cleaning and the cooking, the choir practice and the multiple church services, the visits to Moms and the work waiting in the wings...

I think I probably work too hard to make holidays into "special moments", and in the end, I wonder if all the effort is worth it.

My new strategy? I'm leaving the cooking and entertaining up to others now. I'm writing a note in my calendar for future holidays that says "Rethink this one!" ha ha

We're empty nesters now, with a new philosophy. Time for a new approach!

In lieu of Easter baskets, I gave everyone garden-themed flower pots.

April is here! Looking forward to all the good things that spring brings.

  1. Your dress is stunning on you, as is your hat!!
My grandmother worked hard to give all of us wonderful holidays and I deeply, deeply appreciated it. It's been 4 years since she passed but I still cry every Christmas Eve and Easter because I miss her and the good times at her home so much. She LOVED doing this but when it got to be too much for her, we all chipped in to help and it made it possible for her to continue hosting without also having to cook and clean up (we did that for her). I'm sure your family appreciates what you do but also wouldn't want you doing it if it has become too much work! Your blog posts clearly show your love and devotion to your family and I'm sure they will still feel just as loved by you!
