Tea Time in Tecumseh (and saying goodbye to another craft/hobby store)

It was a gloomy, rainy day yesterday, so my sisters decided to make their own sunshine. They picked up Mom and met me for tea at the British Tea Pantry in Tecumseh.

We had the cinnamon orange spice tea, and it was delicious! When paired with the cinnamon scones, this was amazing.

We popped in to a few shops downtown, including Timeless Stitches, our local needle art shop. At first, I thought they were just having a sale. But upon closer inspection, we learned from the owner that she was closing shop the next day. She was retiring, and did not find anyone to carry on the business. Sad!

I personally rank brick and mortar stores higher than online stores for the shopping experience. There's just nothing that compares to holding a product in your hand, debating a purchase, or being inspired by something you found.

I hate to see the craft and hobby industry struggling. It seems like there are some shops and online businesses that are doing well, while others are just treading water and hoping not to sink.

I resisted the urge to buy up the store (one of the employees told me to buy a lottery ticket on my way home and come back the next day to buy the business! LOL!). I have so many purchases from the last time I visited a needle art shop. Time to get busy working on what I have.

Can I finish this before Valentine's Day? I hope so!

Happy February, café friends!
