New Furniture for the Master Bedroom

Hello, cafe friends! I've brewed a nice hazelnut coffee, and I thought I'd show you some photos from the cottage while I sip and take a coffee break.

Last Christmas, my husband and I decided that we'd like to get new night stands for our gift to each other. And I loved them. It is so nice to have a.) a big space to put a book and a cup of bedtime tea, and also b.) a shelf for more books below and c.) a drawer for tissues, chap stick, hand cream, moisturizer, pen and notepad, etc. I'm pretty sure my husband's drawer is completely empty, but I use mine a lot!

We liked the night stands so much that we decided maybe, just maybe, it was time to buy some of the matching pieces of furniture to complete the space. We've been married thirty years this fall, and it has taken us this long to get bedroom furniture. You know how this is...it's not like a couch that you may replace in five or ten years. Chances are, bedroom furniture is going to be something you will have for a long time, so you better like it, and it better be timeless!

Here's my tip on big ticket purchases: always wait for a holiday weekend. You will get the best deals then. And so we waited until President's Day weekend, and ordered the chest of drawers, dresser and matching mirror from Macy's.

Notice the top of my husband's chest of drawers? Nothing on it. He's more of a minimalist.

My dresser? Family photos, perfumes, a little jewelry...maybe a pile of laundry on any given day. Opposites do attract.

I really like this Sanibel furniture line from Macy's. It comes in two finishes with a lot of options. I think this cream color is very similar to furniture you would find at Pottery Barn, but for a fraction of the price. Quality made, too. The top drawers are lined with a felted removable liner, and the hardware is a pretty brushed nickel.

I picked up a new wreath from Joann's for half off. I think it does a nice job of picking up the colors in the Martha Stewart quilt.

I received this sweet print free after placing a book order at Concordia Publishing House. I found this frame at Walmart, and it worked well. $8? A steal.

I still think I need some light and airy curtains in this room. I will get to that soon. For now, I really feel like this is a soothing space. The colors flow harmoniously with the rest of the house, too.

You may be wondering...what did we do with the old furniture? Well, I will have to show you that another day! Hint: it involves the guest room.

Sunshine! Hoping for more of this for Easter Sunday! Hope you are having a sunny day, too!
