Every day, good weather and bad, finds me in the garden. So much to do this time of year!
We've had a lot of visitors in the garden this week, too.
This morning, I let Jemma out and looked out front to see this big fella!
And let me tell you, snapping turtles can be pretty fast! I turned my back on him to do some laundry, and when I came back I couldn't find him.
But it wasn't hard to follow his trail...
...there he is! Under my roses! It was pretty exciting for Jemma, too. I had to keep her indoors for most of the morning.
Eventually, I think he made his way back to the fence and the creek, as is evidenced by these piles of mulch along the sidewalk.
And just this weekend, we saw the return of our garter snake...or should I say snakes. Yep, two of them now. I hope they can do something about the mice in our little home in the woods!
Now when I work in my vegetable garden along the side yard, I have to wait until it's not so sunny. Otherwise, I may encounter the snakes sunning themselves in my garden beds.
Nature! It's exciting and fun to watch.
Blessings, cafe friends!
We have garter snakes where we live, too, because of the woods and I love that they keep the mice away! I love coming to your blog to see your beautiful garden.
ReplyDeleteI wish we had garter snakes...here it's copperheads. Always on guard. Put an egg in minnow traps to try to catch them... did catch about 4 of them that way.
