Crafting Up A Hot Cocoa Bar

Good morning, cafe friends!

I am hard at work trying to organize and plan the Advent Cafe that our fellowship team is hosting this Sunday. It's a big job, but I think it should be fun!

I found this Hot Cocoa Bar in a kit from Oriental Trading Company, and thought it'd be perfect for the event. $15? Sure. I would need three (One for Hot Cocoa, one for coffee, and one for tea), but it seemed like a decent price.

And then, when I went to place my order, they were sold out. Waaah! I see that they are now back in stock, but that won't help me at this point.

So what's a gal to do? A crafty gal would say "I can make my own hot coca bar decor!" And that's what I did.

For starters, I did order a lot of matching supplies. Coffee cups, plates, napkins, and table runners.

And then, I decided to make my own banners.

I used Papertrey Ink's banner dies, and stamped them with the gingham background stamp from Concord and 9th. I attached a stitched snowflake from Lawn Fawn to each one, strung them with some stitched ribbon from amuse, and voila. Banners!

But now...how to label each bar without a sign? Hmm. I decided to make my own signs, using card stock, alphabet dies from Lawn Fawn, stitched snowflake dies from Lawn Fawn, and black picture frames that I had on hand.

I plan on adding a lot of greenery, with mini Christmas trees strung with twinkle lights. I'm going with a look that I call "Caribou Coffee at Christmas".

I have an acoustic singer booked to perform, as well as a guest speaker to talk about helping our area seniors in need over the holiday season. Crafts, drinks, a cookie swap, and even a selfie station. It should be fun! I wish you could all come!

Now, back to the craft room for more crafting.

Blessings!

  1. The Advent Cafe sounds wonderful! I wish I could come! I LOVE that you got creative with your supplies when you couldn't buy the kits. They look fantastic and I bet you enjoy them all the more knowing you made them (I am sure the ladies will, too).
