The $12 Challenge: My November Purchase
This year, from November 2019-November 2020, I have challenged myself to limit my craft spending to just $12 a month. Why $12? Because it is my 12th anniversary of blogging, and there are 12 months in a year...a nice even dozen.
How's it going?
Well, I got off to a slightly rocky start when I remembered that I had placed a Stampin Up order in October that was due in November. Oops! It wasn't a big order, under $50, and I had set the money aside already. I am going to put that in the October column, so it doesn't count. ha ha!
I decided to make this SU embossing folder my purchase for the month of November. I had seen so many great cards with this Cable Knit background. Kathy Schweinfurth at Stamps at Play made the cutest card featuring a big cup of hot cocoa and this background, and that sealed the deal for me. (November 9th entry! Check it out!)
I put out the SOS on a FB forum: Does anyone have the SU Cable Knit embossing folder that they are willing to sell? And I found one: $10, with $2 for shipping. YES! $12 exactly!
My embossing folder arrived yesterday, and I was eager to give it a try!
I made this card for a friend who loves all things pastel. It's hard to see it in the photos, but the "snowball" has a sparkly edge thanks to Wink of Stella.

I think this embossing folder was a smart purchase for the month. That cable knit looks like a warm, cozy sweater or blanket, and I am sure that it will be used often in the wintry days ahead. And the Smitten Mittens stamps and dies from Stampin Up? I bought those used earlier this fall. I was heavily influenced by fellow Michigander and stamper Jackie Bolhuis at Klompen Stampers blog. She used the mitten dies to make Michigan-themed cards. I love a stamp set that can have a dual purpose!
Smitten with the Mitten!
Blessings, cafe friends!

This is super duper cute! I love the pastel color palette and that embossing folder is a good one! Here's a post of mine where I made a gift card holder with it: http://weeinklings.blogspot.com/2016/12/cable-knit-projects.html
