Happy Holiday Mail
We received around two dozen Christmas cards this year. Half of those were from my husband's co-workers, and a lot of them were photo cards. Makes me think I should be sending out a photo card next year. Maybe a card featuring just Jemma. Who doesn't want to see an adorable Golden girl at Christmas? 😊
I will admit, I got a little Scroogey as the holiday season went on. I mailed out a lot less cards than normal. If they haven't been sending to us, well it must not be important to them, and I didn't mail to them either.
Maybe we need more friends. Or better friends. 😉
On reflection, I think I'm still feeling the effects of holiday hangover. I do a LOT for other people over the holidays. And because we are a retail family that sacrifices a lot so that other families can have all the merry, I carry a heavy load. If Mom can't do it, then it doesn't get done. The decorating. The lights. The baking. The cooking. The cleaning. The shopping. The wrapping. The gifting. All of it. And even though I try my best to simplify and streamline, I do still feel worn out in the process. And a tad bit under-appreciated, too.
Such is life.
That is just one reason why I appreciate it so much when someone goes to the trouble of sending a card. It says "I thought of you!", or "Thank you!", or just a word of encouragement and a " You got this!" Everybody needs that.
I received these pretty hand-crafted cards last month!
Today, I am going to spend some time in my craft studio just getting creative. I think I will make some thank you notes and send them out today. Thankfulness is always a good antidote to the holiday hangover.
And if that fails, then I will look at a cute dog in a coat. That always brings a smile to my face!

Well said. Exactly how I've been feeling.
ReplyDeleteJemma is so cute! We didn't send many cards, mostly to aunts and uncles. We're in the midst of moving from a large home to half size after 40 years so the donating and throwing away have been intense. Also moving away from our little town to the big city where we'll be close to a son. I do appreciate photo cards and letters though.
