Longaberger Inspired

Shirley Ann is a really great gift giver.

My Mom-in-Law has always had the kindest, most generous heart. And she always gives the nicest, most thoughtful presents, too.

At the holidays, she sends my sons yummy things, like tins of Cheryl's Cookies...ah-mazing yummy cookies.

At Christmas, she and my father-in-law send us a big cooler full of yummy foods from Omaha Steaks. We enjoy it so much when the boys are all in town, and it makes menu-planning that much easier.

We drove down to Tipp City to visit them over the holidays. It was a short visit, but it was still nice to spend time with them and catch up on life.

Before we left, Shirley Ann went in to her kitchen and started pulling things out of a cupboard.

"Do you have a butter dish? Here, take this one. And I want you to take these luncheon plates home. They match the mugs I gave you over the summer."

As we wrapped it up, she said "There you go! Merry Christmas!"

I love it! It was probably the nicest present I got this Christmas!

I wanted to make her a special Thank You card that was inspired by the gift of Longaberger, so I pulled out the Cup of Cheer stamp set and dies from Papertrey Ink and used Canyon Clay to match the color of the beautiful pottery.

{Today's Brew: Cup of Cheer stamps and dies (PTI), sentiment from PTI Heart-2-Heart stamps, PTI inks and card stock, Distress Oxide ink, MFT cross stitch square frame die, Concord and 9th gingham stamp set, paper doily}

That's one of the great benefits of hand-crafted cards...being able to customize them to the occasion!

Tell me...what was the nicest present you received over the holidays?

  1. She'll appreciate your attention to the details on this thank you card. My best gift was four tin foil containers of prepared food to place in the freezer at my new house. They wait patiently for our move next week to reheat and enjoy after daily unpacking boxes etc. What a love gift from my son and DIL who live a mile from our new home.

    1. Vikki, what a thoughtful present! I'm so excited to hear about this new chapter in your life, and I'm hoping the move goes smoothly for you. I have no regrets with our downsize! Everything about life is just made easier...cleaning, gardening, decorating. It has been a great transition for us, too, as we will be empty nesters in the not-so-distant future.

  2. What a sweet gift! For a number of years my mom gave me a Longaberger basket or pottery piece from her collection- those were some of the best gifts! This year my favorite gifts were some homemade granola in a cool rustic looking container and an orchid in memory of my grandpa who passed away last year. He was known for many things, one of them being that he created over 200 hybrid varieties of orchids.

    1. Wow, what an amazing legacy! Sounds like a fascinating man! And I LOVE homemade granola, too! I often make it, put it in Ball canning jars, and gift it to friends and family.
