In The Spirit of Giving

Is it just me, or is it harder to find the Salvation Army kettles this year? I had been saving a bunch of loose change, carrying it around in a Ziploc bag in my purse for a while. And boy, nothing makes your handbag heavier than a bunch of loose change!

I was so happy when Sam told me "Mom, I'm going to be a Salvation Army bell ringer on Saturday."

Yay! Finally!

He had volunteered as part of National Honor Society. So of course,  I had to go during his shift yesterday at our local grocery store and snap a few photos. Don't you love that festive scene with the vintage truck and Christmas tree? I love our local Busch's grocery store!

Here are some more festive trees! I made these cards using Jane Gill's linocut stamps.

This one got a little sparkly snow, only because I had to hide an ink smear on the bottom!

The rest of the cards I kept sparkle free.

{Today's Brew: Linocut Trees (Woodware), MFT Snowfall stencil, Lawn Fawn treeline die, Lawn Fawn stitched circle die, Distress Oxide ink, PTI card stock}

Four more to add to the stash!

Blessings on your Sunday, café friends!

  1. I love your cards, and I love the tree border that complements the stamp so well!

  3. To answer your question, yes, I was wondering where the bell ringers are this year. I too have some change that needs a red bucket.

    I was told by a neighbor that it's a combination of the virus and, at least in our area (Charlotte, NC), Chick-Fil-A's bowing to the LGBTQ moment's pressure and transferring their large donations that direction and away from the Salvation Army. Until this year, Chick-Fil-A was a major donor to Salvation Army.

    We've also noticed it at the homeless shelter where I volunteer. Every year for as long as I can remember, S.A. has hired some of our harder-to-hire people as bell ringers every year; it was a gesture that worked for everyone. This year,they have been disappointed by the loss of that seasonal work; it was a low-commitment way to earn just a little spending money, but no more. The whole thing makes me sad.

    Salvation Army is also closing stores where I live.

    However, yay for your son - both for volunteering and for Honor Society. So glad to see your son participating.
