Good morning, café friends! I have a sweet bird card to share with you today! This little bluebird began its life as the robin stamp from Papertrey Ink's Spring Woods stamp set. I just used some different inks and careful inking placement to give him the look of a bluebird. (PTI's Spring Rain, Blueberry Sky, Terracotta Tile and Canyon Clay inks) I blended the colors with a watercolor brush pen to give him the soft painterly quality.
As for the wreath, I used the Rustic Wreath die cut, cut it out in white card stock, and then used some Distress Oxides (Shabby Shutters and Bundled Sage) to paint directly onto the wreath. Betsy at the Greetery uses this technique a lot, and I thought it worked well here.
Now for a word from our sponsor. (Not really, but anyway....)
After the flurry of holiday crafting, I really needed to replace my card stock. I did a LOT of price and color and quality comparisons, and found that Papertrey Ink is STILL the best deal in town! Other companies charge twice the price! The weight is wonderful, and you can get 24 sheets of colored card stock for $5. I also love their Kraft and White.
I placed an order around noon on Friday. To my shock, the order appeared on my doorstep by 10:30 the next morning! UPS Ground. (We just received word from my husband's uncle that he got our Christmas card last week...6-7 weeks after we mailed it through USPS! Grrr!)
Look at those lovely colors! They sing "Spring is coming!"
And this sweet paper pack was only $2.
Occasionally, I purchase Recollections heavyweight white (which in truth is a very light cream/soft white) from Michael's, and I've been happy with it. But PTI is still my GO TO card stock of choice.
Thanks for visiting the café today!

I'm loving your bird cards. So pretty! Congrats on your new cardstock arriving so fast. It's unusual to get any package quickly these days.
