Autumn Hike

We went on a beautiful autumn hike yesterday in one of our county parks. Sharon Mill is in the sweet town of Manchester, and the park meanders along the River Raisin. It was so pretty!

The meadows were full of wildflowers...asters, goldenrod, queen anne's lace, milkweed, black-eyed susans. It smelled amazing. There were butterflies and dragonflies everywhere, and you could hear the bees buzzing as you walked down the path.

A cool water snake, sunning itself on a log along the river.

I remember a craft we used to make when I was a kid. We would take the milkweed pods that had been dried out, scoop out all the seeds and fluff, and spray paint them gold to make "angel wings".

We live in an area where everyone has a story that relates to Henry Ford and the history of the automotive industry. Even in our home town of Saline, there is a house along the river that was built and owned by Henry Ford.

This town mill from the 1800s was once owned by Henry Ford, who turned it into a small automotive factory in the 1930s. It was a lovely building that later became an antique shop and a winery. They now use it for historic tours and events.

I love seeing the old farms and barns along the way. So many of them were decorated with cool quilt signs. The pumpkin stands were plentiful, too!

Hope you had a blessed weekend, too!
