Z Fold Christmas

I woke up thinking about this card this morning.

I know. Strange. But the thought popped in to my head before I even got out of bed, and I decided I had to try it.

I recently got this stamp set from Catherine Pooler called Let Us Adore Him. So pretty! I don't have a lot of nativity sets, and this solid image set looked like a winner.

This is a Z fold card, made by scoring at the 3 3/4 inch marks and cutting at a diagonal. This card still fits in a business size envelope.

To start, I used the Catherine Pooler cover plate called Starry Night to make a stencil, then used Sauna ink to make stars.

I then used some blues (I think Stone Blue and Cove Blue) to blend a night sky.

I spritzed everything with a shimmer spray for blend and sparkle.

Then, I stamped the images in Juniper Mist ink, die cut, and placed them where I wanted them. The angel needed another "side" to cover the back when opened, so I just did some ink blending there.

Finally, sentiments.

I'm not 100 % sold on this one, for some reason. For starters, it's a lot of ink blending. And the star stenciling would have been easier with stamps. I'm also thinking that die cutting is fine, but it may have worked better with just direct to card stock stamping.

I think this set is also great for making cards that would feature just one of two of the images...like the Wise Men and the star, or the shepherd and donkey, or just the holy family with the angel. I will continue to play with it to see what I can some up with.

Hope your Saturday is filled with good things!
